Landsborough's Full Home
Rewiring Specialist

Landsborough is one of the oldest townships on the Sunshine Coast. Homes from the 1940s through 1970s still have their original wiring — rubber-sheathed, cloth-covered, and long past its safe service life. When renovations open the walls, we're the team Landsborough calls.

⚠ Landsborough's Very Old Wiring

Many homes in Landsborough were built in the 1940s–1970s and still carry their original wiring. Rubber and cloth insulation becomes brittle and cracks over time. Once exposed during a renovation, it cannot be left in place — a full rewire is the only safe option.

Electrical Services for
Landsborough Homes

From complete rewires of heritage-era homes to modern switchboard upgrades and safety switch installations — we do it all in Landsborough and the surrounding hinterland.

🔌
Full Home Rewiring
We strip out rubber-sheathed and cloth-covered wiring in Landsborough's oldest homes and replace it entirely with modern cabling, bringing every circuit up to current AS/NZS 3000 standards.
🔧
Partial Rewiring
Where only part of a home needs replacement — specific circuits, a wet area, or wiring exposed during renovation — we scope, quote and complete the partial rewire cleanly and compliantly.
🔍
Old Wiring Inspection & Report
We inspect and document the condition of your home's existing wiring, identify hazardous materials, and give you a written report detailing what needs to be done — essential before any renovation begins.
Switchboard Replacement
Old ceramic fuse boards and under-capacity panels are replaced with modern switchboards fitted with circuit breakers. Standard in any Landsborough full rewire — the old board goes with the old wiring.
🛡️
Safety Switch Installation
Homes without RCDs have no protection against electric shock. We install safety switches on every circuit as part of a rewire — or as a standalone upgrade to homes that have never had them.
🔔
Smoke Alarms
Queensland-compliant interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms. Hardwired into the new electrical system during a rewire or installed as a standalone upgrade to meet current QLD legislation.
🌀
Ceiling Fans
Installation and replacement throughout Landsborough homes. New fan circuits wired as part of your rewire, or added to existing circuits where capacity allows.
💡
LED Lighting
Modern LED downlights, feature lighting and full lighting fitouts. Installed to new wiring during a rewire — or retrofitted into existing circuits with proper insulation rating checks.
🔌
Power Points
Additional GPOs and USB outlets throughout the home. Added to new circuits during a rewire, or installed to existing circuits after we've confirmed capacity and wiring condition.
❄️
A/C Installation
Dedicated circuits and installation for split-system air conditioning. Properly sized cabling and circuit protection — older Landsborough homes often need switchboard upgrades before A/C can be added safely.
🚨
Emergency Repairs
Tripped circuits, burning smells, faults and power outages. We respond to electrical emergencies in Landsborough and surrounds — 24/7 call-out available.
🏡
Pre-Sale Electrical Inspection
Selling an older Landsborough home? We inspect and document the electrical, identify what must be disclosed, and can carry out required works before settlement — minimising buyer negotiation.

Why Landsborough Homes
Need a Full Rewire

Landsborough is one of the oldest townships on the Sunshine Coast. Its housing stock spans the 1940s through to the 1970s — an era when wiring standards, materials and protection methods were completely different. What was compliant then is a serious hazard now.

🔥

Rubber & Cloth Wiring — A Silent Hazard

Landsborough homes from the 1940s to 1970s were wired with rubber-sheathed and cloth-covered cables. These materials have a finite safe service life — and in most cases, that life expired decades ago. The insulation dries out, becomes brittle, and cracks. Inside a wall, this is invisible until it causes a fault, an arc, or a fire.

  • Rubber insulation cracks and crumbles when disturbed during renovation
  • Cloth-covered wiring loses its protective properties entirely over time
  • Exposed copper conductor can contact metal cable clips, nails or pipes
  • Arcing from degraded insulation is one of the leading causes of house fires
  • Once exposed during a renovation, this wiring cannot legally be left in place

No Safety Switches — No Protection

Homes built before the 1990s were not required to have residual current devices (RCDs), commonly known as safety switches. Without them, there is no automatic protection against electric shock from a faulty appliance, damaged cord, or compromised wiring. In a full rewire, we install a modern switchboard with RCDs protecting every circuit — it's not optional, and it's not an add-on.

  • Single-wire earth (SWE) systems provide no path for fault current
  • No RCD means no protection if you touch a live conductor
  • Old ceramic fuse boards can't accommodate modern safety devices
  • New QLD regulations require safety switches on all circuits
  • We install RCDs on every circuit — power, lighting, and wet areas

A new switchboard with RCDs on every circuit — the standard outcome of a full rewire in a Landsborough home. The old ceramic fuse board and SWE wiring are gone entirely.

We've Done This Many
Times in Landsborough

A full rewire in an older Landsborough home follows a clear process: inspection and scope, old wiring removal, new cabling throughout, switchboard replacement, safety switch installation, inspection and certificate. We've done it repeatedly in this area — we know what to expect inside these walls.

We provide an upfront written quote before work begins. If we find additional issues once walls are opened, we'll show you exactly what we found and provide a variation quote on the spot — no surprises.

★★★★★

"We bought a 1955 Landsborough home knowing it needed a full rewire. Pip Electrics came out, gave us a thorough written quote, and completed the whole job in under a week. Every circuit is new, the old switchboard is gone, safety switches on everything. Incredible work — the house feels completely different."

★★★★★

"We were mid-way through renovating our kitchen in our 1960s Landsborough home when the builder pulled back the wall and found rubber wiring that was basically falling apart. Pip Electrics came out the same day, assessed everything, and we had a full rewire quote within 24 hours. Sorted it all out — total lifesavers."

★★★★★

"Used Pip Electrics for a pre-sale electrical inspection on our Landsborough property — a 1970 build. They gave us a detailed written report on everything, flagged the SWE system and the lack of safety switches, and quoted the rectification work. We got it all done before listing and had no issues with the buyer's building inspector."

★★★★★

"Our 1963 home in the Glass House Mountains area had the original switchboard — no safety switches, ceramic fuses, the lot. Pip Electrics replaced the whole board, installed RCDs on every circuit, and also rewired two rooms that had cloth cable. Honest, professional and reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone in an older home."
